RCIYC Sailing Trust ![]() By 5/5/2010 by The Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club (RCIYC) was at the Boat
Show in style this year as it launched its childrens’ Charitable Sailing Trust.
The purpose of the Trust is to support the sailors of tomorrow by providing
children (“cadets”) with equipment, facilities, training, scholarships and
assistance to attend competitions. To create an awareness, not only of the trust, but of all of the Clubs’ activities, the RCIYC provided a stunning hospitality marquee for its members and guests to take a break at the show. The marquee was been funded through sponsorship lead by Rivoli Jewellers. Rivoli took the opportunity to showcase new watches from Tissot.
Rodney Waller the Club’s Commodore added: “The success of the hospitality marquee has been demonstrated by the awareness that it has created in our childrens’ Charitable Sailing Trust which has raised over £1,500 during the show thanks to some extremely generous raffle prizes. All the money raised will go towards sailing for children” The Harbour Master, Captain Howard Le Cornu commented: “The Club’s marquee has been a great addition to the Boat Show was always buzzing. We are very pleased to have worked with the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club and particularly to hear that the launch of the Charitable Sailing trust has been so successful”
